Spinach is a cold season crop. We are located in Colorado, zone 5. Which means there are days when it’s frigid cold and the gardens are covered in snow, but there are also days when the snow melts and the soil warms up enough to be worked.
When is the perfect time plant spinach? My momma planted her’s the week of Valentine’s Day, the weather was warmish, and we were predicted to get a good dumping of snow. She is always prepared, and harvests greens before most people think of planting theirs.
To be able to plant before a big snow fall, allows mother nature to water your seeds at just the right amount, when the seeds need it most.
